QUVVANIQ, since 2007
Organik offers empowering projects to the Inuit communities in Nunavik. Organik team members develop and facilitate inspiring workshops that focus on life skills such as self-esteem, self-worth, leadership and employability skills.
Quvvaniq is a self-esteem project that empowers Nunavimmiut through interactive activities and creative community projects. The projects will be chosen by the participants and will focus on hands-on leadership and employability experience. The ultimate goal of the project is to create strong participants with pride in their culture who will become role models within their communities.
Quvvaniq started as a pilot project in the fall of 2008 in Puvirnituq, Inukjuak, Kangiqsujuaq and Kangiqsualujjuaq. In the winter and spring of 2009, Quvvaniq will return to several communities for a 2-3 week-long workshop. This longer workshop will be an opportunity for more in depth growth for each participant, for the facilitators and for the community.

The Quvvaniq mission will be accomplished through a series of exercises and activities designed to identify individual strengths, increase self-awareness and self-confidence.
Objectives:
* Offer concrete strategies to maintain an ongoing sense of self-awareness
* Practice exercises that can be used on a daily basis to stay on a “positive track”
* Encourage participants to make connections with others (people in their community, employers)
* Provide participants with opportunities to express themselves in multiple ways (verbal, written, interactive, creative, hands-on) through the workshop activities
* Create a personal ‘tool kit’ of resources participants can draw from in various situations (role playing scenarios, modeling)
Quvvaniq has the potential to encourage participants to recognize their strengths, to discover their dreams, and to develop the skills to achieve or even surpass them.
